Couples Therapy
Success in couples therapy looks like reestablishing a sense of connectedness, facilitating more open and vulnerable communication, and fostering feelings of mutual support and appreciation.
I am trained in Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT). Rigorous studies with couples experiencing relationship distress, communication issues, and difficulties connecting with each other have demonstrated the effectiveness of IBCT. This approach is easily tailored to the specific issues each couple brings to therapy.
Areas of expertise in couples therapy include couples navigating infertility, parenting differences, and LGBTQ+ couples.
Course of Therapy
We typically begin with a free 15-minute consultation appointment. This is an opportunity to discuss what brings you (or y’all) to therapy and your treatment goals, and for both parties to assess whether it feels like a good fit to work together. The consultation appointment also allows me to ensure that I am equipped to address your problems and help you work toward your treatment goals. Ethically, I am obligated to inform you if your presenting concerns or goals are outside of the scope of my training and expertise and I will do my best to offer a recommendation or referral as needed.
After the initial consultation appointment, I typically begin meeting with clients for weekly 50-minute individual therapy sessions or 60-minute couples sessions. I find that a weekly cadence helps build rapport, establish momentum, and facilitate early treatment gains. Some people benefit from meeting weekly for the entirety of treatment while others might drop down to meeting every other week before wrapping up.
The duration of therapy varies significantly based on the nature and complexity of the concerns we are addressing. When issues are more recent, clearly defined, and limited in scope, clients often experience meaningful gains within a few months. In contrast, longstanding or more complex challenges may require a longer-term approach, potentially extending over a year or more. As with all aspects of the therapeutic process, the length of treatment is determined collaboratively, and tailored to each client or couple’s unique needs and goals.
Virtual Care
Sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing accessible via your computer, tablet, or phone. This allows me to connect with clients who may have demanding schedules and multiple responsibilities who are located anywhere in the state of Texas.
Fees
My fee is $220 for a 55 minute individual therapy session and $250 for a 60 minute couples therapy session. As an Out-of-Network provider, I prioritize your confidentiality, privacy, and personalized care. By choosing not to contract directly with insurance companies, I can focus fully on delivering therapy tailored to your unique needs, without the limitations or restrictions often imposed by insurance plans. This approach allows us to make decisions together that align with your goals, rather than adhering to pre-defined insurance protocols. Additionally, this ensures the highest level of privacy, as your therapy records will not be shared with insurance companies. Should you choose to seek reimbursement from your health plan, while I do not bill insurance companies directly, I will happily provide you with a “superbill” that you can submit for reimbursement or to file towards your deductible. Therapy services are typically health savings account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) eligible.
